FC 27 Streamlined SBCs: Item Score Explained

FC 27 Streamlined SBCs: Item Score Explained

SBCs are changing in FC 27. Instead of building an 11-player squad around Chemistry, positions, and Squad Rating for many Player and Upgrade SBCs, you can now simply submit eligible Player Items until you reach a required Item Score.

This new system, called Streamlined SBCs, is designed to make everyday SBCs faster and easier. You no longer need to solve a chemistry puzzle just to turn unwanted cards into a reward.

What Are Streamlined SBCs?

A Streamlined SBC gives you a target Item Score rather than asking you to complete a traditional squad.

For example, an SBC might require a certain total score, with additional conditions such as a minimum OVR for each submitted card. You select eligible cards from your club, and every card adds its Item Score to the progress bar.

Once your total reaches the target, you can submit the challenge and claim its reward.

This means the focus is no longer on creating the perfect 11-player lineup. You simply need enough eligible cards to reach the required score.

The system also uses the same Item Score concept as FUT Gallery, so understanding one system helps you understand the other.

How Is Item Score Calculated?

Every Player Item has an Item Score based on its OVR and rarity. Holographic status can also provide an additional bonus.

Bronze and Silver cards have fixed base scores within their respective rating ranges. Bronze Items rated 45–64 contribute 20 points, while Silver Items rated 65–74 contribute 35 points.

Gold cards work differently. Their base scores increase as OVR rises, and the increases become much larger at higher ratings.

For example, the base scores include:

  • 75 OVR Gold — 90 points
  • 80 OVR Gold — 180 points
  • 81 OVR Gold — 280 points
  • 82 OVR Gold — 340 points
  • 83 OVR Gold — 410 points
  • 84 OVR Gold — 830 points
  • 85 OVR Gold — 2,100 points
  • 86 OVR Gold — 4,100 points
  • 87 OVR Gold — 5,500 points
  • 88 OVR Gold — 8,300 points

Special rarity bonuses can increase a card’s contribution further. Holographic bonuses can also stack with rarity bonuses, so the Item Score displayed in-game is the number you should use when planning an SBC.

This makes high-rated fodder particularly valuable for large score requirements.

You No Longer Need Chemistry

The biggest difference from traditional SBCs is the removal of many squad-building restrictions.

For Streamlined SBCs, you generally do not need to worry about:

  1. Chemistry
  2. Player positions
  3. Nationality combinations
  4. League links
  5. Building a full 11-player squad
  6. Traditional Squad Rating requirements

Instead, you choose eligible items until you reach the required score.

This makes the system much easier when your club contains an unusual collection of players. You are free to mix different leagues, nations and positions as long as the cards satisfy the specific SBC requirements.

However, not every SBC in FC 27 uses this format.

Traditional Puzzle SBCs remain in the game for challenges where squad-building itself is part of the objective. These can still use requirements such as Chemistry, Squad Rating, leagues, nations, clubs and player quality.

Partial Submissions Make SBCs Easier

One of the most useful changes is that Streamlined SBC progress can be completed across multiple submissions.

You do not have to provide every required card at once.

Suppose an SBC requires 5,000 Item Score. You can submit part of your fodder today, leave the SBC unfinished, and return later with more cards. Your previous progress remains saved.

This is especially useful when you are opening packs throughout the week. Instead of storing every duplicate card indefinitely, you can gradually feed eligible items into an active SBC.

It also means you can avoid buying a large amount of fodder just to finish an SBC immediately.

Duplicate Cards Can Finally Be Useful

Duplicate management is another area where the new system is much more convenient.

Eligible duplicate Player Items can be submitted toward the same Streamlined SBC. You are not required to find a different player for every slot because there are no traditional squad slots to fill.

This is particularly useful after opening several packs in a row. Instead of being stuck with multiple copies of the same player, you can use those duplicates as part of your Item Score total when the SBC allows them.

The result is a much simpler way to clear club storage.

Choosing Between High and Low Rated Cards

The Item Score system gives you flexibility over how you reach the target.

You can use many lower-rated cards, a smaller number of high-rated cards, or a combination of both.

However, Gold Item Scores do not rise evenly with every OVR point. The jump from 83 to 84, for example, is significant, while the difference between some lower-rated cards is much smaller.

Because of this, do not automatically throw your highest-rated cards into an SBC. Check how much Item Score you still need first.

If you are only slightly below the target, using a smaller card may prevent you from wasting a valuable high-rated item.

What This Means for Your Club

The new system changes how you should think about Fut 27 Coins and club management.

You no longer need to stockpile specific nationalities, leagues or positions simply because you might need them for a future Player SBC. For Streamlined SBCs, the overall contribution of the card matters much more than its chemistry links.

That makes Bronze, Silver and lower-rated Gold cards more useful as general fodder, while high-rated Gold and special cards become valuable when a large Item Score requirement appears.

You should still check the exact requirements of every SBC before submitting anything because some challenges can include minimum OVR or other eligibility conditions.

Streamlined SBCs vs Traditional SBCs

The two systems serve different purposes.

Streamlined SBCs focus on speed and flexibility. You submit eligible cards, accumulate Item Score, save partial progress, and use duplicates when allowed.

Traditional SBCs remain puzzle-based. You build a squad and solve requirements involving things such as Chemistry, Squad Rating, leagues, nations or clubs.

So FC 27 has not completely removed the classic SBC experience. Instead, it gives Player and Upgrade SBCs a faster alternative while keeping traditional challenges for more complex puzzles.

Before submitting anything, check the Item Score you still need. Avoid using a 90-rated card when a couple of cheaper cards can finish the requirement.

Use duplicate players whenever the SBC allows them, take advantage of saved partial progress, and keep your high-rated fodder for challenges where its large Item Score contribution actually matters.

The new system does not eliminate decision-making. It simply moves the decision away from chemistry puzzles and toward which cards give you the score you need without wasting valuable fodder.

For many FC 27 players, that makes everyday SBCs faster, cleaner, and much easier to manage.
